Notes from Conference Call 2012

Travel Day information- Families should have received an e mail with your travel day information. There is a bus from DC and Philly, if you did not received an e mail with your domestic travel information please e mail- Brianna Fowler (Programs@habonimdror.org)
The participants will need to get to their domestic flights two hours ahead of time to check in and meet the other Habonim participants who are traveling with them. When they get to JFK or Toronto they will need to go to baggage claim to get their bags and to meet our staff. Talia Spear(347-257-2889) will be in Toronto and Brianna Fowler(917-822-2330) will be in New York. Have your kids look out for our Habonim Dror Blue shirts.
There will be a chaperon with them on the international flight. For the Toronto Flight Lee Kadar will be traveling with the participants to Israel, for the JFK flight Molly Wernick will go to Israel with them.
If at any time you have questions or issue on fly day please don’t hesitate to contact Brianna Fowler at 917-822-2330, That will also be the emergency contact for the entire program.

The kids will be split up in to three busses. They will be mixed by gender, and by camps (all seven) We will take the bus request into consideration but we cannot guarantee that you will get all your requests.  The participants will find out the buses when they get to Israel.  They will have lots of time with the entire group and will be staying at the same hostels and hotels every night.

Personal Money
We recommend that participants bring anywhere from $100- 150. The main time they will have time to spend is going to be when they are at a shook(market) There is not a lot of time to shop while on the program outside of the “free weekend” if people so choose to.
Please note that they will not have guaranteed time for them to take out money on a ATM or Debit card.
We also encourage and request that you get the money turned over the nis (schekles) at your local bank before your child goes it will make it much easier for them and for our staff.

Free Weekend
The free weekend is July 20-22. We will share pick up and drop off points closer to the free weekend date.  There will be a drop off in three different cities, Hifa, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv.  If you child would like to stay with friends or family , we MUST know before the program who they will be staying with, where and the contact information for that person. If you have not yet sent it to us on the google form, please do so before July 1, 2012.

If you do not have friend or family there will be a regular Shabbat  weekend for kids on kibbutz with down time and machane (camp) style Shabbat with our staff.

Cell Phones
The cell phone link is http://www.israelphones.com/mbi.htm
We do not expect that all the participants will get a phone. They will not be able to use the cell phone during programming. If your child does get a phone I do encourage that you send your child with a calling card as well to cut cell phone costs.
The cell phones will be dropped off in the air port if they choose to request one, and they will be able to drop it off at the air port again at the end of the program.

 Packing
Kids must have good walking shoes, no need for large hiking boots. Water bottles, hats, Backpack.
These things will be a daily necessity while they are in Israel. Please read the packing list below, it outlines everything
